We are the Smiths, Victor and Johanna better known as Vic and Josie.
We were married in 1961, we were both 20yrs old, so you do the math. We are both from Glens Falls NY.
I joined the US Air Force in 1960 as an enlisted swine and retired in 1980 as a Master Sergeant (E7). I went to work for GE
Aerospace in 1981 and through mergers and buyouts ended up retiring from Lockheed Martin in 1998.
In the Air Force, I was a Weather Forecaster and learned computer programming which kept me employed after I retired. I
hired on to GE as an IBM Assembler programmer and retired as a Senior Staff Software Engineer. Probably the last engineer
with Lockheed without a degree.
We have lived a lot of places: Limestone Maine, Utopia Creek Alaska (I went alone), Oxon Hill Maryland, Chanute AFB
Illinois, Grand Forks AFB North Dakota(brrr), Kadena AB Okinawa, Alexandria Virginia, Scott AFB Illinois, Lake George
New York, Stafford Virginia, Glens Falls New York, back to Stafford Virginia and finally Palm Bay Florida.
Josie has stuck it out with me all these years, dragging three kids around the world and putting up with military life and civilian
life where her husband worked for a nameless customer in an place called the "Area".
She is the family Genealogist and has been working on our families since 1971. She has over 6000 names in her database and
has traced some back to Lady Godiva and Alfred the Great of England. She has found that I have three ancestors that arrived in
1620 on the Mayflower.
Over time we had 3 children, Greg, Lora and Patrick. All three are children, now adults, any parent would be proud to claim.
We have 5 grand children and one (and I find this hard to believe) greatgrand daughter.
We bought our 1978 Vintage Airstream in 2002 and a Ford Excursion to tow it. Our lives haven't been the same since. In a
good way. There is a lot more about the trailer on this site.
So here we are. Twice retired, drawing our Social Security and living the good life of retirement. It just doesn't get any better
than this.
