April 3-9
Day Six
Saturday
Starts out with our famous Omelet-in-a-bag.
First put you
name on the
freezer bag
Then one scoop
of eggs
Add ham, cheese,
onion and
'shrooms to taste.
Give it to the chef
Into the boiling
water for 10
minutes
Voila, Breakfast
Add Toast
Pound Cake
and Orange
juice.
AND EAT!!
Now that's a good
thing!!
Then comes Earl Leggett's Olympic Games
We played in teams
and had tons of fun
The Blue Team
Really got into the
Olympic Spirit
The Red Team was
LOUD and ready to
play
The Orange Team looked
good but one member
protested almost all the
decisions.
The Yellow Team while
not as flamboyant, had
the heart and skills to win
The Green Team was laid
back
The officials and
referees. The lady with
the whistle was real
bossy.
The first event was
Golf... Leggett style.
Some of the
competitors were...
well ... shall we say
special
Next came the 'Shot Put'. In this event, form
counts for a lot.
Then came 'Bowling'. Yeah, a bowl with a
ping pong ball balanced on the head.
Don't blame me I didn't make up these
games!
That was followed by the 'Discus
Throw'. In one picture you can see the
pie plate ... er ... discus in the air.
In 'Basket Ball' there are no style
points. Thank heavens for that!!
The 'Javelin Throw' required no skill
whatsoever but form and style they don't
count either. You can't see the soda straw
used as the javelin. The picture on the
right was the 'last straw'.
The 'Water Relay' required high levels of
concentration and fitness to keep the
water in the spoon
This is the relay part.
Some of these
participants hadn't
moved this fast in
years.
The judges were
under a lot of
pressure to be as
accurate and fair as
possible.
For some, the pressure
was just too much to
bear.
Time to extinguish
the Olympic Flame.
and try and try and
try
The Blue Team wins
the day
In the evening, Robert Gill, actor and educator, portrays Samuel Clements
recounting key moments in his life.  We were the first to see this new
presentation.
Day Seven Easter Sunday
Easter Sunday means and Easter Egg Hunt.

While many of the attendees went to the Castillo de San Marcos
for the Sunrise Service (it was in the low 40's, brrr) the hosts
hid the eggs containing money. At 10:30 the hunt began.
Folks gathered for the start of the hunt.  Some had to be restrained until the
signal was given.  Then it was off on the hunt.
Someone allowed professional egg
hunters in on the hunt. We didn't mind
The hunt over, the
hunters straggle back
to the schoolhouse
for the Annual
Counting of the Eggs.
The official tally
keeper counts the
eggs found. We hid
412 and 407 were
found.  Well Done
hunters
Next we all went to St. Augustine for the Easter Parade

For the last several years, the Florida Unit has represented the
WBCCI by towing two or three Airstreams in the Parade.
Frank and Joan Carson's 34' Excella 1000 (left) and Vic and Josie  Smith's
vintage 1978 Excella 500 (right) were in this years parade.
We encountered a really rowdy bunch of parade viewers.  They all seemed
to be wearing badges with the WBCCI logo.
After the parade we had a catered ham dinner and an Easter cake.
That was followed by the closing ceremonies.

The rally was a big success. We all had lots of fun and we can't wait for next
year.
